新西兰媒体Newshub在前天(2月25日)发布了一篇有意思的报道,讲述了当地珠宝商反馈的观点:新西兰消费者对培育钻石的兴趣正日渐浓厚。

“定制一枚2克拉的钻戒,如果用天然钻石的话,价格在24000-26000新西兰元,培育钻石的成品价格大概在8000新西兰元左右”。
很多选择培育钻石的设计师(或当地品牌)并没有就此放弃天然钻石,而是同时经营两类产品。这也是培育钻石存在的意义(之一)——让消费者能做出自由的选择,而不会像以前那样囿于单一的营销宣传和产品类型。
dr-,其他媒体在解读这个信息的时候,不可避免地会谈到两个问题,一是培育钻石对天然钻石市场的冲击有多大,二是培育钻石不断降价的现实。
比如Jeweller Magazine装载这个新闻的时候,就着重提到了保罗·金尼斯基(Paul Zimnisky)之前的观点,并表达了两个有趣的想法:
1)以前你可能是自己圈子里唯一一个拥有3克拉钻戒的人,但现在很多人都有3克拉、4克拉甚至5克拉的钻戒,你会怎么想?
2)人们就是想买,所以培育钻石正在变得越来越主流。与此同时也确实有人就是愿意买一颗更小的天然钻石,这也是正在发生的事实。
另外,在“邻居”澳大利亚,之前相关机构做过一份针对该国珠宝行业的报告(2024年版),其中一个板块便针对“培育钻石在过去的十年里面是否正在成为我的业务中的重要组成部分”的问题访问了200名珠宝零售商。
根据调研的结果,将近40%的受访者表示“同意”或者“强烈同意”,同时将近有42%的表示“不同意”或“强烈不同意”(截图如下)

由此可见,在澳大利亚,培育钻石在零售商层面的受欢迎程度几乎是“五五开”的局面。新西兰方面虽然没有这样的数据,但状况或许也是类似的。
在充满不确定性的未来,培育钻石将怎样改变当地消费者(尤其是年轻人)对钻石的理念?天然钻石能否守住自己的“价值主张”?零售商对两类产品的态度会如何发展?这些都很值得持续观察。
